Welcome to Leazes Terrace, the football opinions blog covering Newcastle United and footballing subjects such as transfers, teams, news, match report and general rants about things in the ‘beautiful game’.
If we don’t like it, we’ll let you know about it.
Find out a bit more about the ‘brains’ behind Leazes Terrace below:
Richard Havelock: co-founder and web geek
Richard basically put together the blog, carrying out all web design, development, social media set-up, search engine optimisation and other technical web stuff like that. He doesn’t get much time to blog as he is usually busy creating websites for other people but when he does… it is fairly unspectacular and all too forgettable.
Footballing Likes: Players putting in 100% effort and players showing good strength (not falling over when someone gets within 6 feet of them).
Footballing Dislikes: Players not putting the effort in, players who are scared of the ball (E.G. when in the wall for a free-kick or blocking a shot) and the fact that referees don’t understand that sometimes a foul is just a foul and not a booking. Also when a good, strong tackle (without malice or studs up) gets a player a yellow card.

RD: co-founder and blogger
Newcastle United season ticket holder for 18 years and semi-retired footballer.
This young left winger’s footballing days were brought to a premature end following an indulgent 2 week holiday in Florida, 2003. Supersize meals and a lack of exercise resulted in weight gain, a subsequent lack of pace and the loss of the left wing slot.
Following confidence-sapping comments from his Sunday league manager and a resultant bout of depression, he never recovered mentally or physically and called time on his 11 a side career at the tender age of 20.
He can now be found attempting to hit the bar from his own half on the 5 a side pitch (better than scoring). When not playing football he likes to watch and write about Newcastle United and any other random footballing sprawlings that take his fancy.
Jose Enrique, Fabricio Coloccini, injury time winners and bizarre squad numbers.
Footballing Dislikes: Boo-boys and the incorrect usage of the words ‘literally’ and ‘unique’ by pundits and co-commentators alike.

Chrissy Smith: co-founder and blogger
Newcastle United season ticket holder for 18 continuously frustrating seasons. This frustration is plainly evident in a writing style so aggressive and cynical that the self titled ‘gossip gangster’ (and prat) Perez Hilton looks tame in comparison.
Perhaps unique in the world of football as one of the few who have actually got better at playing since the early days of being compared (rightly) to Savo Milosevic, to be found these days either play making (effectively) or up front shooting (erratically and ineffectively).
Jose Enrique (also), Robert Pires, Nobby Solano, Dutch total football and winning away from home.
Footballing Dislikes: Sky Sport News and Sky Sports in general, tedious and unintellectual pundits, the moron at Bolton / Blackburn / Wigan with the drums and above all – the makems.
