I reckon Pardew is very astute - most notably in how he man manages players. Not a bad word to say about him from any of them - even Joey. Tactically I think he is aiming for a team that can play 4-3-3 or close variation - Cabaye certainly can. Be interesting to see whether he plays the two Dembas in a 4-4-2 - and probably will to start with, or plays Tiote, Cabaye and the much improved Guthrie as a mid field trio, with HBA behind the front two - more a 4-3-1-2. Interesting times.....We don't need another gangsta either...

still, I think it's daft to mention this as if it's a weakness.

U could certainly accuse him of being a little conservative with team selection of late and since Stoke he's perhaps become a little too enamoured with direct football. However, this is the first time in my years watching NUFC (since 89-90) that we've been able to play more than one formation (that's 4-4-2 obviously) effectively.

His meticulous pre-game preparation has been evident in a number of games, even to the layman. For example, the way in which Evra was targeted with aerial diagonal balls at Old Trafford - the Frenchman conceding numerous throw-ins in manU's defensive third

Also, successful in-game and HT tactical adjustments have been a consistent feature this season.

As fas as I'm concerned, he is literally 'tactically astute'

Pardew 'not tactically astute'???? Hmmm... maybe u aren't as tactically astute as u think. Just a thought

As for Morrison, NUFC is being used by his agent to try and scare ManU in to giving him/them a big, juicy deal. You'll notice that this week, Real are being used in a similar fashion. It worked for Rooney.....

*moderator note - the quote is "While not always tactically astute".

Really interesting article. Have to say though, if his talent is really as big as everyone says and Pardew genuinely feels he can control the kid then even three or four million might not be crazy. Yes, missing on a potentially problematic 18 year old for three million isn't a good thing, but if he's truly world class potential it's worth every penny of risk.

Absolutely fantastic read! Very well put together and I completely agree with what's been said. For me, Ravel is a fantastic talent and is certainly worth a shot for anything upto £2.5m, but anything higher than that would probably be too much for us when we have a bunch of talented youngsters ready to break through.

Weighing up the pro's v cons you get Yes 0% and No 99.9%

Ranger failed to shed his recalcitrant past despite the salary, the cosseting and the Range Rover and "witness intimidation" is not a minor offence !

Morrison and the like should be moved out to non league pastures and made to appreciate the difference between the Premiership and real life !
